MT.
MERU in Arusha National park
has an altitude of 4566m and is the second highest mountain
in Tanzania. This mountain is dormant volcano and it offers
a magnificent view of the imposing Mt. Kilimanjaro and the
spectacular Rift Valley for visitors who climb Mt. Meru.
Also the area hosts the very big variety of species of birds,
both resident and migrant, the best months is September
until April for the migrant birds to be seen.
Day
1: Transfers to Momella gate(alt.2100m) registration
of the
climb, thereafter start climbing up to Miriamkamba hut(alt.2541m)
for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Climbing to the big valley then to saddle
hut alt.3570 later back
to saddle hut for dinner and overnight. A hike up to the
little Meru is done
in the late afternoon hrs.
Day 3: Final ascent to the Meru peak 4566m,descend
down to saddle hut
then to Miriakamba hut for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Walk slowly to Momella gate arrival by 10:30am
and transfers to
Arusha town
